Sparky the Wonderhorse
early 1970's - 2010

We lost our friend in February; as near as we can figure, he was about 40 years old. In this picture, taken in early spring several years ago, he was in his "clydesdale" outfit, just starting to shed out.

Below is a picture of Sparky in the spring of 1978; about 9 months after he came to live with us. He was with us since the beginning of Blue Lion. He was a wonderful part of our life and the hole he has left in our landscape is enormous.

The JEAN RITCHIE SPECIAL We are pleased to announce the creation of this unique Jean Ritchie Special Mountain Dulcimer, built to honor and to thank Jean Ritchie for all she has done for Blue Lion and for the dulcimer community. This instrument is one of a kind, with the back and sides being the last pieces from the same special walnut board used to build Jean's first Blue Lion. The dulcimer features an extended "hearts-a-flower" inlay and 25 year old Western red cedar soundboard. Click here for mo re information (Sold 4/09)		The FORCE - d' OSSCHÉ SPECIAL To honor Robert Force and Al d'Ossché and their remarkable contribution to the dulcimer world, we built this dulcimer from ultra fancy curly maple; this is the last set of back and sides from a board we cut during our first year in business (31 years ago!).
