The sound of this instrument is INCREDIBLE! It is a standard four string with a fifth lower bass string--sort of a combination standard AND baritone dulcimer. Plays in regular keys (D, G,) but also the relative baritone keys. It has a unique sound and the potential is unlimited. By using bridge pins for the string attachment, (as with the regular Acoustic Jam), you can experiment with a variety of string gauges and tunings until you find the one that works for you as it is easy to reposition the bridge to ensure proper intonation. |

We began Blue Lion in June of 1977. In recognition of our 30 years of dulcimer and guitar building we built a commemorative dulcimer, shown on the right. A Style II custom one-of-a-kind, it featured 30 year old Brazilian rosewood back and sides, scroll peghead, 30 year old spruce top, ebony fretboard, blue paua shell tree of life inlay, bookmatched curly maple binding and purfling, inlaid marquetry backstrip, gold Schaller planetary tuners, ƒ-heart soundholes and high gloss, hand-rubbed lacquer finish.
