LATEST NEWS - 3/3/2025
We have had quite an "interesting" couple of months to say the least. In late January Robert had to have emergency hand surgery; all went well and he is on the road to recovery but it may be another month or more before he can work in the shop again. And not to be outdone, Janita somehow managed to injure her shoulder and she, too, is out of commission for at least the next month or two.
We can still fill orders for accessories but work on dulcimers is not possible at this time. We are hopeful that Robert's hand will return to full function sooner than later but his surgeon could not give a reliable time line as this sort of injury just takes time. As for Janita's shoulder–she can't get in to see a specialist until the early part of April so until then we don't have a lot of information as to remedy options and recovery.
For those of you on our waitlist--you're still on the list and we still plan to be able to build your dulcimer—we're not willing to retire just yet. We thank you so much for your patience and we're trying to heal as quickly as possible!
WAITLIST TEMPORARILY SUSPENDED
For the time being, we are no longer accepting orders to be placed on our waitlist. We arestill at least a year out to complete the orders already in place and we don't want to keep adding orders at this point.
We are not able to work as long in the shop as we used to and it is taking longer to complete a production run due to health factors well beyond our control.
We've had several people contact us saying that they had heard we are no longer building dulcimers; this is not correct. We have not retiredand we are not planning on closing Blue Lion anytime soon. We just need some time to catch up and to give our bodies some time to heal.
For those of you already on our waitlist, rest assured we are still planning on building your instruments.
